Guidelines on how to clean a centralised air conditioning

The centralised air conditioning has a lot of benefits. For this reason, you need to take care of it otherwise, you might spend summer without a cool air. What follows are guidelines on how to clean it thoroughly.

Remove the Debris

Check your condenser and make sure that there is no accumulation of debris around the condenser. Accumulated debris such as leaves, shrubs, wood piles and dust etc. block the entry of free air to the condenser.

Around the condenser fan also, you might find dust and other waste accumulation. Make it a habit to clean it once in a while, to get unobstructed cool air inside your home.

Check the Ductwork

The ductwork connected to condenser should be clean, and there should be no blockage in the ducts. Try to remove the blockage, if you find any.

Besides that, there should be no mold in the ducts. If you find mold in the ducts, immediately contact an Air conditioning service, they will clean the ducts.

Apart from that, make sure that there is no hole or rust in the ducts passing through basement area. All the connections should be properly sealed. If you find holes in the ducts, seal them using silver aluminium foil tape.

Alter the Filters

Filters are located near the blower. Once in a month, check and clean the filters. The filter usually gets clogged, due to the dust in the air passing through it. A clogged filter obstructs the way for air, to pass through it.

Your air conditioning system might stop on its own due to this. Air conditioning service recommends cleaning the filters regularly, because it blocks the way, for cooling coil also, as blocked air in the cooling coil gets converted into ice.
